Elixirs

Elixirs are a new mechanic unique to Heroes of Hammerwatch 2. They can be spawned as loot from Cursed Chests and Cursed Resource Caches in New Game Plus, as well as from beating Avatar in New Game Plus. When consumed by pressing the interact key, they raise the associated Character Attribute by a certain amount.

The maximum amount an elixir can grant as a permanent bonus to a specific attribute is dependent on your current New Game Plus level, to a max of 3 per level. A character who just beat Avatar for the first time will be able to raise each of their attributes by 3 total, having attained NG+1. A character in NG+10 will be able to raise each of their attributes by 30 total. In addition, the amount of "points" an elixir will raise your attribute by is determined by how far away your character is from the current cap, determined by the current NG+ level you're playing on. Elixirs normally grant +1 to their respective attribute, and one elixir will only increase one attribute at a time.

  • A character 8 or more points below the possible cap for their attribute will be able to find elixirs that grant +3 to their respective attribute.
  • A character 16 or more points below the possible cap for their attribute will be able to find elixirs that grant +5 to their respective attribute.

This means in the same scenario from before, a NG+1 character in a NG+1 campaign would be able to find 3 +1 elixirs for each of their 5 stats before hitting their cap, whereas a NG+10 character in a NG+10 campaign would be able to find +5, +3 or +1 elixirs, depending on how far away they are from their cap of 30 per attribute. The same NG+10 character in a NG+1 campaign would only be able to find the same 3 +1 elixirs as the NG+1 character, as the cap is determined by current NG+, not max NG+.

Your current bonus to your attributes granted by your consumed elixirs can be found by hovering over each attribute in the character stats screen, showing the breakdown of each stat and the source it's gained from.
