Classes

In Heroes of Hammerwatch 2, your chosen class determines your character's abilities, stats, and overall playstyle. You initially choose from four classes: Warrior, Paladin, Ranger, and Wizard. As you progress, you'll unlock three more: Rogue, Warlock, and Sorcerer.

Each class offers three specializations, allowing further customization with new abilities and passive skills. Leveling up classes also provides valuable buffs to all your characters in both single and multiplayer games.

Leveling Up

Level Cap

The level cap is 20, and you no longer gain Experience () once you reach level 20. The level cap increases by 5 each time the character beats the game and progresses to New Game Plus (NG+).

The formula for the level cap is: Level Cap = 20 + (Character NG+ × 5).

You can check your character's level cap by hovering over the Experience tracker in the character menu.

Attribute and Skill Points

You gain 3 Attribute (Attribute Point) and Skill (Skill Point) Points for each level your character gains. Additional Points can also be earned through Guild Accomplishments.

Skill Points can be spent at the Training Grounds to upgrade your class abilities, at the Weapon Mastery to attune different weapon types for increased damage, or at the Library to attune items whose Blueprints you’ve found.

Experience

The equation for experience gained is calculated as follows: EnemyExpReward×ExpLevelPenalty×ExpMultiplier×(1+NewGameLevel3)
EnemyExpReward can be found on the respective enemy category pages Bosses, Aberrations, Beasts, Constructs, Undead, Human, Elites.
ExpLevelPenalty can be found in the table below.
ExpMultiplier can be found on your character sheet as “Experience Gain” ().

Experience Level Penalty

You gain full experience (100% of normal) if you are ‘no more than 10 levels below, or no more than 5 levels above’ the level of the area you are in.
For each level that you are away from this range, you get 15% less experience than normal, to a minimum of 10%.
The levels of areas can be seen in-game next to their names, in the top right corner of the screen (either when viewing the map or if you toggled the option to always see it), or here.
